Dayton Human Relations Council

CPC Committees

Education and Outreach Committee
A critical component of the CPC mission involves community outreach and engagement with local residents. The Education and Outreach Committee works to develop and implement strategies to recruit, organize, educate and empower residents to address community concerns and issues. Events are coordinated throughout the year in partnership with grassroots organizations to organize neighborhood opportunities for constructive and quality engagement such as community Spaghetti Dinners, neighborhood walks, listening tours and public action campaigns focusing on community-police relations issues. Activities are designed to offer opportunities to foster trust, share communal experiences and enhance mutual understanding.

Data Committee
Strong communication is critical to building relationships with the community. The newly formed Data Committee examines how data and transparency can be used to promote meaningful dialogue between law enforcement and the community they serve. Ongoing work of this Committee will focus on collecting crime data, developing knowledge about analysis and benchmarks, and establishing a reporting format appropriate for greater community transparency.
