Welcome Dayton presents World Refugee Day event

Release Date: Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Welcome Dayton will honor and recognize Dayton’s refugee community by celebrating World Refugee Day on Saturday, June 30. The event will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free admission. It will include performances from Burundian, Sudanese, pan-African youth, Vietnamese and other groups, plus a local immigrant-owned coffee truck, food tasting stations, children’s activities, a multi-cultural fashion show, and resource information. World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations as an annual celebration honoring the courage, strength, and determination of women, men, and children who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict, and violence.
