Release Date: Friday, May 15, 2015
Contact: Erica Fields, Human Relations Council, 937‑333‑1403

The Dayton Human Relations Council will host a community conversation on race and riots on Wednesday, May 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Westwood Elementary School (2805 Oakridge Dr.).

In the wake of tension and social unrest that have occurred across the country, and with a desire to help improve relationships between law enforcement and the
communities that it serves, the event is designed to build understanding and explore underlying issues that may incite unrest, what that means for the community, and how we move forward.

The evening will include a short panel discussion, breakouts and open discussion. The dialogue will be used to generate a concrete list of critical issues of concern in the community. A follow‑up event to be held in June will strategically focus on these issues and will bring to the table practitioners and grassroots leaders in respective areas to develop action plans for movement.
