Avenue serving as the conduit for conversation and empowerment; using hip-hop as a tool to urge a more active community response in speaking out against gun violence, strengthen the relationships between law enforcement and the communities that they serve, and cultivate young adult community engagement. Elements in the 2015 series include a citywide high school spoken word slam competition and a culminating celebration of art, music, performance, and activism. The events support the Community Initiative the Reduce Gun Violence (CIRGV) and the work of the Community Police Council (CPC).
The more residents that get involved in their community, the better the City of Dayton will be.
