Diversity Takes the Field at the Dayton World Soccer Games

The second Dayton World Soccer Games will take the field at Action Sports Center (1103 Gateway Dr.) on Saturday, September 14, with 22 teams representing immigrant communities living in the Dayton region. The Games are inspired by Welcome Dayton, the City of Dayton’s immigrant friendly city initiative.

Opening ceremonies featuring a parade of nations and a Dayton Police Fire scrimmage game will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13. Tournament games consisting of youth and adult teams begin the following morning at 8:00 a.m.

Nationalities and communities represented at the 2013 Dayton World Soccer Games include: Austria, Italy, Scotland, Mexico, Germany, Turkey, Ireland, Bolivia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Russia, Africa United and the United States.

Admission is free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Bringing sports seating is suggested. Greater Dayton RTA will provide free hourly shuttles from the Wright Stop Transit Plaza to Action Sports Center from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
