A spaghetti dinner and community meeting will bring together area residents to talk about creating safe communities and reducing gun violence. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the Desoto Bass community grounds (811 Oldfield Pl.). Admission is free.
The eveningʹs activities will include presentations by the Community‑Police Council and the Community Initiative to Reduce Gun Violence, ʺKnow Your Rightsʺ breakout sessions (for adults and youth) facilitated by the Dayton Police Department and the Thurgood Marshall Law Society, and a resource fair.
The event will also mark the launch of a six‑month campaign designed to help change community norms around accepting a culture of violence. The campaign, ʺLive with Honor,ʺ will focus on positive behavior among the community at large, networks, groups and the individual.
The event is presented by the Community Initiative to Reduce Gun Violence and the Community‑Police Council. For more information, contact the Dayton Human Relations Council at 937‑333‑1403.
